Once the concrete foundation has cured, it's time to start putting up the walls. 2x6 lumber is used for all exterior walls, shear walls, and heavy load bearing walls. Wood construction is flexible in that it allows for minor adjustments during the framing process. As walls rise, spaces and openings start taking shape.
